Southern Belle Sweep
Kelly McCay was crowned Miss Agriculture in the 2006 Blount County Miss Agriculture Pageant. To add to the joy of the McCay family, named as First and Second Alternates were her sisters, Kayla and Kimberly. Kelly graduated from Locust Fork in 2005 while Kayla and Kimberly are Seniors this year.
It is outstanding for them to do so well, as this was a very complex pageant. Miss Agriculture features formal wear and an interview, while also testing your knowledge of agriculture. According to the girls, preparation for this pageant was very time consuming, but well worth it in the end. They have placed in numerous pageants, including Miss Locust Fork and Miss Covered Bridge. When asked her feelings about this year’s Miss Agriculture Pageant, the girl’s mother, Mrs. McCay replied, “I was very proud to have all three of my girls place, and I can’t wait until Kelly competes in Miss Auburn.” Miss Auburn will be coming up soon, and we wish her the best of luck.
As far as career plans, Kelly is currently attending Auburn University, majoring in animal science. Kimberly plans on obtaining a double major in political science and English, and eventually going on to law school. Kayla is interested in becoming a physical therapist.
Congratulations to all three girls. We are very proud of you and wish you the best!
