Mrs. Waid Receives ALFA Award

On March 27, 2006 a special ceremony was held in honor of Mrs. Joyce Waid. ALFA Insurance Agency gives awards to outstanding teachers and administrators in the community. There to present the award was Andy Click from ALFA and Allen Jones, President of the Alabama Farmers Federation. Mr. Click presented a plaque and one thousand dollars to Mrs. Waid. In gratitude, she gave a touching speech. She directly addressed her former students by saying, “Great rewards in teaching come from you…and don’t forget it!” She also humbled herself by giving credit to the administration and faculty of Locust Fork. “You’re only as good as the people around you.” After her speech, the love that her students have for her was shown when they gave her a standing ovation.

In addition to the award for Mrs. Waid, Alfa presented Mr. Smith one thousand dollars for Locust Fork High School! He promised the students that the money would go to the school to benefit their education.
