2005 Volleyball

Congratulations to the Locust Fork Hornets volleyball team for beating Susan Moore, Appalachian, Hayden, and J.B. Pennington to win the 2005 Blount County Volleyball Tournament. Lauren Smith was named Tournament MVP. Also, Marley Minck, Jade Silcox, and Melissa Quinn won All-County Honors.

Coach Grant said that it feels great to win the county tournament. He said he has learned much from all of his players, since he had never coached volleyball before. Early in the season, he said would get onto his players for making mistakes and then they would perform poorly. One of the girls pointed this out to him, so he decided to take another approach. He let the girls teach him about volleyball and from that point forward they began to play well. He said that he has enjoyed this experience very much. He also wanted to thank all the administration, faculty, and parents for all their support in the 2005 volleyball season.

The varsity volleyball team also clinched a spot in the Regional tournament this year, after finishing Runner-up in the area tournament just behind Pennington.
