I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Montevallo in 1995. I then received my Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Montevallo in 2005. Finally, I received my Educational Specialist degree in Counselor Education from the University of Alabama in 2009.
After getting my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, I worked as a case manager for people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities for several years in Alabama and in Texas. I went back to graduate school and got my Master's degree of Education in Counseling. After that I worked as a community agency counselor in the field of substance abuse and mental health. I then worked as the project coordinator/counselor for the Blount County School Based random drug testing program (which was a grant funded position). After that grant ended, I began work as a guidance counselor in the Blount County school system. I work as guidance counselor with Southeastern School as well as Locust Fork High School. I am very happy to be with the Blount County School system!
I am very blessed to be married to a hard working, loving, giving man. His name is Ben Butler. We were married on July 20, 2013! I also have a wonderful 15 year old daughter who makes me smile every day. Her name is Taylor. I also have a wonderful 18 year old step son who surprises me everyday with his unique personality. His name is Ryan. I love my family and am very blessed to have them in my life.
I am also very thankful to be a part of the Blount County School system. I appreciate the closeness in the community and schools that you get from a small county.
